About the competition - Electrical Installation - Closed

Competitors will undertake a series of practical tests based on the workplace which will demonstrate their abilities and highlight their outstanding skills in the electrical installation industry.

Dates and venues of competition heats are not yet available; if you have registered already, you will be notified when you are able to choose which heat you would like to attend, if your competition is to have heats.

Competition structure

Stage one: colleges, training centres and employers identify suitable candidates and register their entry to the appropriate contact (English and Welsh entries to SummitSkills by March 2010. Entries from Scotland and Northern Ireland see SECTT and ETT separately).

Stage two: candidates will be invited to participate in regional skills competition events (Spring/Summer 2010).

Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many can enter?

One competitor per organisation.

Who can enter?

This competition is intended for those employed in the electrotechnical industry and who are either working towards or have just completed an S/NVQ level 3 qualification related to electrical installation.

Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales), up to level 6 (for Scotland) or up to 5 years experience in a working environment.

Further opportunities

There is a City & Guilds qualification available for this competition.

There is the possibility of progressing to a EuroSkills competition.

There is the possibility of progressing to an International WorldSkills competition.
