About the competition - skillVM (formerly Visual Merchandising)
Visual Merchandising consists of a series of competitions for students and those employed in
the retail industry to demonstrate their visual merchandising skills in a live competition
environment.
Teams are invited to design a window display based on a given theme through submission of mood
boards and a written proposal. Designs will be judged by a panel of expert judges, and the top
scoring designs will be shortlisted to create their window displays at heats. The top scorers of
the live heats will be invited to create their window displays at the UK final.
Dates and venues of competition heats are not yet available; if you have registered already,
you will be notified when you are able to choose which heat you would like to attend, if your
competition is to have heats.

Competition structure
Stage one: enter online by submitting initial design work by 16 April 2010.
Stage two: submit window display design by 23rd April 2010
Stage three: highest scoring student teams that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK heats
Stage four: highest scoring student and retailer teams that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final
How many can enter?
No more that two teams per organisation.

Who can enter?
The competition is intended for a team of two working and/or training towards relevant programmes of study in visual merchandising. Competitors can be in education and training or working in industry.
Open: this level of entry takes into account the fact that many sectors do not recruit from
particular types and levels of qualifications.
Student category: students working towards a visual merchandising qualification or a
qualification which has a visual merchandising element.
Retailer category: those employed in the retail industry in a role which involves visual
merchandising.
