About the competition - CNC Turning - Closed

The CNC milling and turning competitions are two separate competitions that prepare you for industry by putting you in the role of the CNC machinist. Competitors will work to a set brief and use CNC machine tools to cut, drill, shape and finish products and components used in engineering and manufacturing.

Entry Deadline: 19 March 2010

Competition Type: Live

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010.

Stage two: download either the Milling or the Turning competition project brief from the WorldSkills UK website and submit your work for judging to UK Skills by the 14 May 2010.

Stage three: all submissions of work will be judged and the highest scoring competitors that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many can enter?

Up to three competitors per organisation per competition. Please note you may only enter one competition – either the milling or the turning.

Who can enter?

These competitions are intended for technicians working or training in CNC Milling or Turning.

Advanced: Those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales), up to level 6 (for Scotland) or up to five years experience in a working environment.

Further opportunities

There is a City & Guilds qualification available for this competition.

There is the possibility of progressing to an International WorldSkills competition.
