About the competition - Accounting Technician Skills - Closed

The Accounting Technician competition has been designed to reflect aspects of an accounting technician’s role. This competition will provide an invaluable opportunity to test your skills nationally against teams to promote excellence within your industry. Teams will be required to demonstrate competence in:

Technical knowledge:

- Sales
- Purchases
- Books of prime entry

Entry Levels: Advanced

Entry Deadline: 01 March 2010

Entry Type: Team competitors

Competition Type: Live

Competition structure

Stage one: download and submit the application form by 1 March 2010.

Stage two: competitors will be invited to participate in live heats between 6–10 April 2010.

Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final on 26 June 2010.

How many can enter?

Two teams of three competitors per organisation.

- Use of planning to schedule the work
- Communication skills
- Professional and ethical conduct


In addition, teams are also expected to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of general health and safety issues that may arise during the competition.

Who can enter?

The competition is intended for those who have completed their AAT level 2 Certificate for Accounting Technician QCF (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales) or SVQ level 2 in Accounting or Certificate in Accounting (for Scotland).

Advanced: Those undertaking qualificationsup to level 3 (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales), up to level 6 (for Scotland) or up to five years experience in a working environment.
