About the competition - Microsoft IT Technician - Closed

Competitors will be presented with a variety of hardware components (storage, wireless, peripherals, RAM, graphics, cables, and switch etc.), Microsoft Client (XP, Vista), server (2003, 2008) and application software (Office 2003, Office 2007). The objective is to configure the hardware and software to meet customer requirements.

This will involve setting up a Client /Server network with a domain controller.

Entry Levels: Advanced

Entry Deadline: 19 March 2010

Entry Type: Individual competitors

Competition Type: Live

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010.

Stage two: competitors will be invited to participate in a live heat.

Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many can enter?

Two competitors per organisation.

Who can enter?

The competition is intended for those undertaking a relevant programme of study in Information Computer Technology equivalent to S/NVQ, BTEC, AVCE ICT, ITSST, IT Essentials (A+) or Microsoft Official Curriculum.

Advanced: Those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales), up to level 6 (for Scotland) or up to five years experience in a working environment.

There is a City & Guilds qualification available for this competition.

There is the possibility of progressing to a EuroSkills competition.

There is the possibility of progressing to an International WorldSkills competition.
