Overview

This competition assesses the skills and abilities of competitors entering the field of Automotive Repair and Maintenance.

The competition is designed to reflect the role of an automotive technician, including skills such as time management, planning and problem solving.

This competition is managed by The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) in collaboration with Electude, Pro Align, Vocanto, Toyota, Ford, Kia Academy and Hickleys.

Entry criteria

  • This is an individual competition
  • There is no limit to the number of competitors permitted to enter this competition per organisation.
  • Entrants must be familiar with all of the core competences (found via the link in the Useful resources section below)
  • Competitors must be at least 16 years of age on 1st September 2021 and be working towards a level 3 qualification or have achieved this no more than 12 months previous to the competition registration opening.

How it works

Registrations are now open and close midnight 28th March 2024.

The entry stage of competition is a remote or online test, sent when a competitor registers.

Competitors will have 1 week to complete from receiving the task and the final deadline is 5th May 2024.

Live Qualifier takes place at Eyebox Coventry. 15th, 16th, & 17th May 2024.

 

To help finalists prepare ahead of the UK Final, we will provide relevant technical training and share mindset development techniques, to support them to remain focused on achieving success.

National finals will take place between the 18th-22nd November 2024 in Manchester (venues TBC).

Competitors who are age eligible and have achieved the benchmark score will be invited to opt into Squad UK during December 2024 for the WorldSkills 2026 Cycle, subject to the skill progressing to the international competition cycle.
