About the competition - Beauty Therapy - Closed

At each level the competition focuses on the role and tasks of a beauty therapist. This includes carrying out a range of treatments which reflect both current and traditional beauty therapy treatments.

In the heats competitors will be expected to demonstrate their skills in:

Intermediate: Warm waxing, manicure and facial plus day make-up

Advanced: Consultation, body faradic treatment, full body massage and facial galvanic treatment

In the UK final competitors will be expected to demonstrate skills in treatments prescribed by the lead judge. The selected treatments will be a reflection of current industrial requirements and therefore subject to change.

Competition Type: Live

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010.

Stage two: competitors will be invited to compete in a heat.

Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats who meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many can enter?

One competitor per level per campus.

Who can enter?

The competition is intended for those training or working as beauty therapists. Competitors can be in education and training or working in industry.

Intermediate: Those undertaking qualifications up to level 2 (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales), up to level 5 (for Scotland) or up to two years experience in a working environment.

Advanced: Those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 (for England, Northern Ireland and Wales), up to level 6 (for Scotland) or up to four years experience in a working environment.

Further opportunities

There is a City & Guilds qualification available for this competition.

There is the possibility of progressing to an International WorldSkills competition.
