WorldSkills London 2011

The first WorldSkills London 2011 e-newsletter was sent out on Thursday.
17th December to our stakeholders, supporters, partners and sponsors.

The last few months have been extremely busy for us, not least because a large proportion of the WorldSkills London 2011 team went to WorldSkills Calgary 2009 in September.

'In many ways, we will not have a rehearsal for WorldSkills London 2011, so coming to Calgary is the closest we will get' said Aidan Jones, Executive Director, WorldSkills London 2011. 'From watching the competitions first hand to shadowing our Canadian hosts, we were allowed ‘behind the scenes’ to see how it all came together – a great opportunity for the WorldSkills London 2011 team. The experiences we had and the things we learnt in Calgary will stand us in good stead for producing the most exciting, inclusive and inspiring WorldSkills Competition ever in October 2011.'

November saw the launch of two important groups to help us with both the Event and the longer term objectives around raising awareness and respect for vocational skills. The Legacy Group and the London Group will both help us to engage London and the UK and make WorldSkills London the success it deserves to be.

Recently, we have added more content and functionality to our website. Visitors considering coming to WorldSkills London 2011 can now find videos and articles from Visit London on our website, to help them have the best possible experience. Our new page for schools, colleges, students and teachers will continue to develop over the next six months until it becomes an education portal.
