Stonemasons shape rough pieces of stone into accurate geometric shapes and then arrange the resulting stones with mortar to form structures. Those looking to become a Stonemason should prepare to build stone walls, fit cladding using mortar and specialist fixings. Carving or repairing is also one of the main tasks that Stonemasons complete.

The individual will need excellent knowledge in building and construction along with paying attention to detail, work well with others and work at height. They will need to be good with their hands to make and fit stonework window frames, archways and ornamental garden statues. Our Stonemason competition gives individuals the perfect opportunity to learn and develop this skillset.
