Electronic security systems cover a wide array of different technologies and software that keep our homes and business’s safe as well as monitoring and maintaining health and safety, controlling access, and being an integral part of smart building operation.
Engineers working within this field be me required to design, install, commission, handover, maintain and repair intruder alarm systems, video surveillance systems, access control and many more IoT and technology-based systems that we depend on.
This competition has been designed to reflect the role of an electronic security engineer and the standards that are expected within this industry. The competition is delivered by Skills for Security, which on behalf of the industry are responsible for the success and sustainability of the Electronic Security Systems Skills Competition.

Registrations are now open and close midnight 28th March 2024.
The first stage of competition is a remote or online test sent out on point of registration, competitors will have one hour to complete the task once the test has started, with the deadline of 29th of March.
Live Qualifier
The Qualifiers will take place from the 30th April, until the 2nd May 2024 at the Security Event, Birmingham. The event will be located at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham.
To help finalists prepare ahead of the UK Final, we will provide relevant technical training and share mindset development techniques, to support them to remain focused on achieving success.
National finals will take place between the 18th-22nd November 2024 in Manchester (venues TBC)
Competitors who are age eligible and have achieved the benchmark score will be invited to opt into Squad UK during December 2024 for the WorldSkills 2026 Cycle, subject to the skill progressing to the international competition cycle.
