DMG MORI UK is supporting the UK’s top engineering apprentices as they prepare to compete at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.
Taking place in October, WorldSkills is billed as the world’s toughest skills competition which sees over 1000 young people from all over the world come together to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze in their chosen skill.
Ahead of Team UK Selection at the end of March, the apprentices competing for a place to represent the UK in CNC Milling will attend a specialist training event at DMG MORI’s UK headquarters in Coventry. This will form part of their Technology Days event, which take place from 14 to 15 March, where DMG MORI UK will be introducing their new innovative solutions to meet today’s industry challenges.
Chris Cooper, at DMG MORI UK is the UK Expert in CNC Turning for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, he said: “Global innovation is at the heart of our business which is why we are passionate about developing the young talent in our industry. The WorldSkills Competition is proven too fast track an apprentice’s career and the training they receive as part of their preparation for the competition will see them develop the world-class skills which will drive the engineering industry forward.”
Attending the training at DMG MORI UK will be:
- Ethan Davies, a CNC Milling Machinist apprentice with Electroimpact Ltd.
- Liam Woinson, a CNC Milling Machinist apprentice with Paradigm Precision who trains at Training 2000.
- DMG MORI UK is also supporting the training of the apprentices competing for a place to represent the UK in CNC Turning:
- Ryan Allenby, a CNC Turning Machinist apprentice at M-Sport who trains at Lakes College.
- Samuel Parkinson, a CNC Turning Machinist apprentice with Fort Vale Engineering
- Phillip Whiteside, a CNC Turning Machinist apprentice with Rolls-Royce
- From 29 March to 1 April, they will come together to compete for the one place in CNC Milling and the one place in CNC Turning to represent the UK at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.
