Representatives from Government, industry and education from around the world will attend WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 to debate global issues and trends in skills development.
The conference entitled ‘skills strategies for a globalised world’ will form part of the WorldSkills event, which takes place in the United Arab Emirates from 14 to 19 October.
Delegates at the conference will share best practice and discuss how better visibility and importance can be given to apprenticeships and technical and vocational education and training in countries around the world.
Working in partnership with the British Council, WorldSkills UK is participating in the conference. Dr Neil Bentley, Chief Executive, WorldSkills UK will chair the session on ‘Skills Development in Cities: Powering the engines of economic growth’. Industry and government representatives from King Abdullah Economic City, (Saudi Arabia), Delhi and Singapore will discuss how research and global thought leadership can help cities to deliver inclusive growth through skills. Dr Bentley will also examine how sustainable skills solutions can meet the needs of both economies and society.
