Meet the WorldSkills UK apprentices!

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (3-9 February 2020), we’re shining the spotlight on our hardworking WorldSkills UK apprentices, David, Hannah, Jasmine and Sam.

Social Media and Content Manager Marysia asked our apprentices some quick-fire questions about apprenticeships and found out a bit more about what makes them tick.

David works in the Marketing team as a Digital Marketing Apprentice. 

What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?
You’ve got a lot learn.

What would you say to someone thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
Go for it, you’ve got nothing to lose.

How do you balance work and coursework?
I have a day a week to work from home.

How would you describe your apprenticeship at WorldSkills UK in one word?
Engaging.

Coffee.

Hannah working in the Competitions team as a Business Administration Apprentice.

What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?
I get to gain the experience, learn new skills and earn money at the same time.

Why did you decide to go down the apprenticeship route?
When I was seeking a new job role, everyone wanted experience and I thought the best opportunity to do that was to do an apprenticeship.

How do you balance work and coursework?
I have a set day in the week to focus on my coursework and the rest of the week I focus on my responsibilities in the office. 

City break or beach holiday?
Beach holiday – two weeks in the sun, definitely.

Twitter or Instagram?
Depends on my mood!

Who would play you in a film about your life?
I don’t think anyone could! 

Jasmine works in the Corporate Affairs team as a Business Administration Apprentice.

What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?
Being able to earn and learn at the same time.

How do you balance work and coursework?
I just prioritise and make sure I use my day off wisely.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever got?
Do what makes you happy.

What would you say to someone thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
Go for it.

Music.

Naomi Campbell.

How do you take your tea?
Two sugars and milk.

Sam works in the Finance and Corporate Services team as an Accountancy Apprentice.

What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?
To learn on the job.

What would you say to someone thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
Go for it, it’s probably the best decision I’ve ever made.

Why did you decide to go down the apprenticeship route?
Advice from a teacher.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever got?
To do an apprenticeship.

What’s your ultimate career goal?
Finance management.

My girlfriend fancies Brad Pitt and she has good taste!
