Overview

The Foundation Skills competitions have been created to showcase the skills of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), additional learning needs (ALN), or who require additional support for learning (ASL), who are currently undertaking a course with an FE or training provider at Entry level or level 1.

The competition has been designed to focus on all the essential skills needed for a successful career within the Digital Media industries. Competitors undertake varying creative roles associated with producing a media production and are required to work towards industry standards.

The competition is largely practical and are open to people working up to Level 1. It is designed so that there is a clear line of sight to appropriate jobs, impacting on economic growth and personal success.

Entry criteria

  • This is a team competition (team to comprise of 3 members).
  • There is no limit to the number of competitors permitted to enter this competition per organisation.
  • The competition is for the learners working towards Level 1.
  • Competitors must be 16 years of age or over.

How it works

Registrations are now open and close midnight 28th March 2024.

The first stage of competition is a remote or online test sent after registration closes, competitors have one week to complete with a final deadline of 26th April 2024.

Live Qualifier 

  • will take place virtually from the 24th of May 2024

To help finalists prepare ahead of the UK Final, we will provide relevant technical training and share mindset development techniques, to support them to remain focused on achieving success.

National finals will take place between the 18th-22nd November 2024 in Manchester (venues TBC)
