Automotive Refinishing is a significant sector within the automotive engineering industry, automotive refinishing covers, painting of cars, trucks, other vehicles, partly or totally, and single parts of vehicles, often after the completion of body repairs, this includes a wide range of skills, high standards, critical thinking and process applications.
This competition assesses the skills, abilities of competitors entering the field of Automotive Refinishing.
The competition has been designed to reflect the work role of a vehicle refinishing technician, including skills such as time management, planning and problem solving.
This competition is managed by The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).

Registrations open 09:00am Monday 3rd of March and will close midnight Friday 28th of March.
Entry Stage will be released between Monday 3rd & Friday 28th of March with a final deadline of 2nd of May 2025 (Exact dates will vary by competition).
Qualifiers will take place from the 14th to the 16th of May at Eyebox Training and Conference Centre in Coventry.
To help finalists prepare ahead of the UK Final, we will provide relevant technical training and share mindset development techniques, to support them to remain focused on achieving success.
Prepare students and apprentices by engaging with our benchmarking resources to master their skills and mindset masterclasses to build confidence and resilience on the WorldSkills UK Learning Lab.
The National Finals are scheduled to take place in Wales during the week beginning 24th November 2025.
