A beauty therapist (intermediate) is skilled in the most popular salon treatments offered including waxing, manicure/pedicure, eye treatments, facials and makeup.

The competition focuses on the role and tasks of a beauty therapist. This includes carrying out a range of therapy services which reflect both current and traditional beauty therapy treatments including facial treatments, make-up, manicure, pedicure, lash and brow treatments, health and safety and customer service.

Entry criteria

  • There is no limit to the number of entries per organisation but organisations are strongly encouraged to use the pre-competition activity to introduce their competitors to (and prepare them for) competition work and to select their best representatives.
  • This is an individual competition.
  • Entries will be accepted from competitors who are enrolled in a programme of study working towards Beauty Therapy Level 2 in the last 12 months.
  • Competitors must be familiar with the core competencies below.

How it works

Registrations open at 9am on Monday 3 March and will close midnight Friday 28 March.

Entry Stage will be released between Monday 3 March & Friday 28 March with a final deadline of 2 May, 2025 (Exact dates will vary by competition).

Qualifiers dates:

17 June: Abingdon & Witney College, Wootton Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1GG.
18 June: Cardiff and Vale College, City Centre Campus, Dumballs Road, Cardiff, CF10 5BF.
25 June: York College, Sim Balk Lane, Bishopthorpe, York, YO23 2BB.
26 June: Wigan and Leigh College, Parson’s Walk, Wigan WN1 1RS.
27 June: North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College, Hinckley Rd, Nuneaton CV11 6BH

To help finalists prepare ahead of the UK Final, we will provide relevant technical training and share mindset development techniques, to support them to remain focused on achieving success.

Prepare students and apprentices by engaging with our benchmarking resources to master their skills and mindset masterclasses to build confidence and resilience on the WorldSkills UK Learning Lab.

The National Finals are scheduled to take place in Wales during the week beginning 24 November, 2025.
