WorldSkills UK is looking for talented students and apprentices to join its International Training Programme in Renewable Energy for WorldSkills Lyon 2024.
It will be the first time the UK has competed in Renewable Energy at an international level. Participation in the competition forms part of WorldSkills UK’s commitment to helping young people acquire the skills that employers need to support the UK’s transition to net-zero.
As part of the selection process, WorldSkills UK is inviting Students and Apprentices to attend a training and assessment event at Newcastle College:
Date: 11-12 December 2023
Location: The South Yorkshire Institute of Technology (IoT)
Content: This event will include the installation of a Wind Generator
Day 1 Training (11 December): You will be trained on industry-standard specialist equipment delivered by FESTO, Didactic Services Ltd.
Day 2 Assessment (12 December): You will be competing for a place in Squad UK based on your assessment, where we will test your technical ability, performance and behaviour under pressure.
Expenses: All travel/accommodation/subsistence will be covered by WorldSkills UK.
To ensure that Candidates meet the criteria for the WorldSkills competition, they must:
- be born on 1 Jan 2002 or later.
- be able to commit 30 days of your time for Training & Development & 5 days for Competition Preparation from now to WorldSkills Lyon Sept 2024.
- Have full support from their employer/education provider.
- Be close to completing OR have completed your Level 3 Electrical & Electronics Diploma or Extended Diploma Qualification OR Level 3 Qualification in Electrical Installation
