In May, over 100 of the UK’s top apprentices and learners, who are currently in training as Squad UK, will battle it out at Team UK selection, the penultimate event before WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.
Competing in skills ranging from bricklaying, welding and mechanical engineering CAD through to cooking and floristry, Squad UK will need to draw on every aspect of their training and experience to fight for a coveted place in Team UK. Team UK Selection takes place from 19 to 22 May at Central College Nottingham, EMTEC Colleges Limited and Burton and South Derbyshire College. As part of the event, the colleges will be running seminars on how skills competitions can be used to raise standards in apprenticeships and vocational training.
Team UK will be announced on 2 June and they will represent the UK at WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 from 11 to 16 August.
