WorldSkills Europe has announced that Skills Austria, part of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, will host the EuroSkills Competition in the city of Graz in September 2020.
Taking place every two years, the competition brings together young people, aged 18 to 25, from all over Europe to compete in 40 different skill areas. The Competition enables member countries to work together to raise awareness of the importance of world-class apprenticeships and technical skills with employers, young people, teachers and parents.
Dr Neil Bentley, Chief Executive, WorldSkills UK said: “I offer my congratulations to Skills Austria on being awarded EuroSkills 2020.
“Participating in the competition enables the UK to use the latest thinking on training and development from European countries to inform the apprenticeship frameworks in this country, raising standards and helping to equip young people with the right skills to help UK business compete better globally.”
The announcement that Austria will host EuroSkills 2020 was made following a vote of members at the WorldSkills Europe General Assembly.
The next EuroSkills Competition will take place from 1 to 3 December, 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Hungary will host the competition in 2018.
Team UK for EuroSkills Gothenburg will be announced by WorldSkills UK on 9 May.
