Speaking about the ‘Skills for a 10X economy’ launched by Northern Ireland Economy Minister Diane Dodds, Dr Neil Bentley-Gockmann, OBE, Chief Executive, WorldSkills UK said:
“In launching its new skills strategy, the government in Northern Ireland has set out an ambitious plan for economic growth over the next decade.
“This presents a significant opportunity to set a new level of ambition for skills and develop a world-class skills economy for Northern Ireland that will support employers to be internationally competitive and help attract more inward investment to fuel recovery and growth.
“In supporting this ambition, we will work with our college partners in Northern Ireland to ensure that there is a focus on high quality skills development and embed international insights from our global benchmarking programmes to raise standards in higher technical education and apprenticeships, so that more young people are emerging from their training highly skilled, confident and ready for work.
“The planned Skills Council for Northern Ireland will be crucial in driving forward the ‘Skills for a 10X Economy’ strategy and I look forward to working with its members to make a world-class skills economy a reality, harnessing the talent of the next generation to help build a strong and prosperous economy in Northern Ireland.”
