Access Creative College is a specialist training provider with centres across the UK offering courses in media, events and music. The college attends WorldSkills UK LIVE every year to showcase their courses to the next generation and drive recruitment.
Access Creative College has been exhibiting at WorldSkills UK LIVE for many years, using the UK’s largest skills and apprenticeship event to showcase their training courses and meet potential students.
“WorldSkills UK LIVE is a great way to promote our courses and demonstrate to thousands of young people where their creative skills can take them,” explains Adrian Merchant, Engagement and Events Manager at Access Creative College. “We always meet thousands of young people who are attracted to our interactive stand and want to put their skills to the test.”
Access Creative College has a significant presence at the event, hosting a corporate stand with information for teachers and parents, as well as an interactive area targeted at young people. This helps raise awareness of the college and allows the team to gather more information on prospective students.
“We help visitors get a taste of what our courses are really like,” says Adrian. “Our students and teachers are always there to give advice and we bring performers, set up a mini workshop, showcase greenscreen videos and bring along a DJ deck. This really helps young people get hands-on with what we offer and shows them just how exciting our technical courses can be. We also collect email addresses from visitors who are interested in the college so we can follow up with them after the event.”
Creating the right connections
Exhibiting at WorldSkills UK LIVE allows Access Creative College to get to know their potential students and influencers. Bringing the team face-to-face with their audience gives them the opportunity to discuss the benefits of technical education and the creative industries.
“It’s great talking to young people who are considering one of our courses, but it’s also very important to speak to their parents and help them understand what we offer,” says Adrian. “At WorldSkills UK LIVE, we can speak to whole families so they get an actual insight into how we can help young people. Teachers also approach us so they can be sure to give their students the best advice to help them find their dream job.”
