Automotive Body Repair Competition

Overview

This competition assesses the skills and abilities of competitors entering the field of Automotive Body Repair.

The competition is designed to reflect the work role of an automotive technician, including skills such as time management, planning and problem solving.

This competition is managed by The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) in collaboration with FMG RS, Toyota, Morelli Group, Car-O-Liner, and 3M.

Competitors taking part in this competition should be able to:

Entry criteria

This is an individual competition.
There is no limit to the number of competitors permitted to enter this competition per organisation.
Entrants must be familiar with all of the core competences (found via the link in the Useful resources section below)
Competitors must be working towards a Level 3 qualification or have qualified no more than 12 months previous to competition registration opening.

How it works

1. Register

Registrations are now open and close midnight 28th March 2024.

2. Entry Stage

The entry stage of competition is a remote or online test, sent when a competitor registers.

Competitors will have 1 week to complete from receiving the task and the final deadline is 5th May 2024.

3. National Qualifiers

Live Qualifiers taking place on 15th, 16th & 17th May 2024 at Eyebox Coventry

4. Training and Development

To help finalists prepare ahead of the UK Final, we will provide relevant technical training and share mindset development techniques, to support them to remain focused on achieving success.

5. National Finals

National finals will take place between the 18th-22nd November 2024 in Manchester (venues TBC)

6. Squad UK

The WorldSkills UK/IMI Skills Competitions national finals also form part of the selection process for WorldSkills International competitions and the 2024 finals will be used to identify UK squad members for the world competition in Shanghai in 2026.
