Free to attend and taking place from 21 – 23 November at the NEC Birmingham, WorldSkills UK LIVE will offer young people the ultimate interactive, immersive careers experience to help them become the new high flyers.

Visitors will be able to discover what career and course opportunities are available and best suited to them based on their interests and personality traits, all through an immersive VR experience called VICTAR.

Designed by Dev Clever, VICTAR (Virtual Interactive Careers Training and Apprenticeship Robot) has been developed in parallel with Launchpad, Dev Clever’s online careers platform that brings refreshing innovation to the careers education sector. VICTAR uses 360-degree environments to enable young people to explore the careers, apprenticeship and training opportunities available to them, as well as statistics on wage, predicted growth opportunities by region, and video content of people in the role, providing advice and insight into recommended careers.

VICTAR will help students attending World Skills UK LIVE quickly understand their career options to provide a more customised LIVE visit, and ultimately help guide and inspire them into the right career for them after school.

Dee Aylett-Smith, Head of Young People and Careers, WorldSkills UK said: “LIVE is the UK’s largest skills, careers and apprenticeship event for young people and we are delighted that this year we can offer further guidance on the career and training opportunities available to them through the latest in VR technology. Through the interactive immersive experience we offer at LIVE, young people can follow up on the careers advice they receive from VICTAR immediately with face to face exchanges with employers and also by having-a go at a huge range of skills and careers during their visit.”

Chris Jeffries, Founder and CEO of Dev Clever said: “It’s an honour to be partnered with WorldSkills UK to make LIVE the best and most interactive show yet. Students will be able to understand, from their own personality traits and their interests, what career is best for them and will know the right place in the show to learn more. Understanding the right career path can also help resolve the wider UK skills crisis. Currently, failure to tackle the skills gap is predicted to cost the economy £90bn, and by engaging and informing young students on the options out there, they will be better equipped to make the right decision earlier and get the right training to help them secure the right career for them.
