On Friday 22 November at NEC, Birmingham, WorldSkills UK LIVE will welcome 2,000 14-18 year-olds to take part in the world’s largest mental health lesson. Bringing together mental health experts and top performers, the lesson aims at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues – as well as giving attendees the tools they need to develop their mental resilience.

King’s College London’s Professor Dame Til Wykes will deliver the lesson as part of a high-energy show featuring poet and mental health activist Hussain Manawer, TEDx speaker and rap artist Jamala Osman – and more top-secret guests to be announced shortly.

The lesson is the final stop for the Million Minds Tour – four large-scale mental health lessons taking part across the country. The tour aims to encourage young people to seek help for their mental health problems by sharing a positive message and giving them practical tools to help themselves, their friends and their families. These lessons will break down the taboos that often exist around discussing the topic, offering tips on how to build their resilience and mental health both in school and as they move into the world of work.

With the support of media and influencers, the sessions aim to reach as many young minds as possible to remove the stigma of mental health, encourage a positive dialogue, educate young people and build communities of young people who can support each other.
